Laura Gellar: Blush-N- Brighten Kit

Blush-N-Brighten Kit: Ethereal Rose

From my mom:
I could not be more pleased with the Laura Geller products I've tested. This includes their "ethereal rose powder" and the makeup brush that accompanies it.
I've tried many foundations, and always found their look to be heavy. Inevitably, the liquid foundation settles into pores. Loose powder gave me more of the polished but light look I was looking for, but the loose powder dusted the counter more than the coverage it gave to me. The "mineral" powders initially seemed to provide a solution, but the "three colors fits all"didn't match my skin tones. After wearing them for a few hours, they tended to change colors, to an unflattering orange-yellow tone. Finally, through this testing site, I was able to use the Laura Geller powder and brush.
The colors woven into the powder were close to my skin tone, and left a soft, polished look. The compact itself seems to buffer the contents from cracking, as was often the case with other products.
In addition, the brush is brilliant. Like a lipstick tube that twists open and close, the brush for the powder twists open and closes, with a cap that covers it completely. While I've always been conscientious about cleaning my makeup applicators, this packaging completly protects the brush, as well as my purse.I'd not seen or heard of the Laura Geller line before. Had it not been for this testing site, I don't know that I would ever have found this line.
I recommend this product without reservations.

Bobbi Brown Basics Lip Palette

LOVE THIS!
This palette has made me understand the ado about Bobbi Brown!
4 outstanding colors, each great on their own, but I love to mix. The brush is great too, no odd stray bristles on your lips.
I think the Rum Raisin shade is my favorite (the deepest), but the Brownie is a great neutral. The Posey Shimmer and Naked lip glosses are great toppers, or if I just feel like a little gloss.
I recommend this to everyone- great quality lip stick, good staying power, not goopey glosses, no drying feeling. I can't imagine any skin tone that wouldn't be flattered by these wonderful shades!

Garnier Nutritioniste Daily Exfoliating Gel Cleanser

Good scrubber, not too harsh.
Mentholated!
It's like an exfoliating Noxema gel, but without that smell.
Full of anti-oxidants and such.
I really like this, my face feels so nice and clean after using!
And smooth!!!

Garnier Nutritioniste Anti-Puff Eye Roller

This little tube is really cool.
It's basically a little pen for under your eyes-- a very thin roll-on gel.
Goes on smoothly, no tugging.
Nice & cool.
Rally does de-puff & reduced the little lines at the corners of my eyes, practically to non-existence!
Looks a bit odd when I first put it on, but eye area all smoothed out when it dries.
Great for those morning when you haven't quite gotten enough sleep.

3 LAB Perfect Mask

This mask promises to lift, firm, and brighten your skin, and it does just that. I found the process a bit uncomforatble though. You unfold the mask and lay it on your face then pat until centered. Easy enough, but its a bit heavy and unless you can lay still for 10 minutes it slips down quite a bit. I personally have to work these things in to my busy day so I would have prefered using a mask that allows me to go about my tasks. This mask made that dificult. On the upside, my skin did feel great after, and had a nice healthy glow.

Bring Hawaii into your shower this winter!

I have fallen in love with a new product! Winter always makes my skin dry and pasty. If you hate winter skin as much as I do, you should try Ola Hawaii Cane Sugar Scrub. http://www.hawaiianbodyproducts.com/. You feel a difference instantly after using it. It not only exfoliates your skin, but moisturizes all day as well. It smells wonderful and transforms your shower into a spa when you apply it! I actually love the consistency of it. It uses sugar cane, organic lehua honey, tropical oils, and nut butters. A must try! I am getting very sad that mine is almost gone, but I can't shower without it now!

The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

The brush is full, short and wide. The mascara stays on all day and doesn't flake or disappear. Minimal clumpage too. It's a good daytime mascara. For a washable, not waterproof mascara, I like it a lot. It comes off easily with soap and water. Thumbs up!

Murad Firming Brozer

Murad
Firming Bronzer SPF for face and body

I just got back from 5 days in sunny Florida, and let me tell you, I took advantage of the sun. My first day back to reality, I decided to try Murad's face bronzer. It is a little watery, and ran out of the tube fast. It actually leaked in my bag, but I'm not sure if I tightened the cap all of the way. The full size comes with a pump, so I am sure all of the runniness and leaking will be avoided. Anyway, this bronzer was a perfect compliment for my tan. It went on light and didn't leave the dreaded face line. The bronzer dries quicky enough that you are able to put it on your neck/body without worrying about it getting on your clothes. My skin was soft and glowing. It also has SPF 15. With this bronzer, I feel like I will get to keep my tan for just a little while longer!

Joey New York Blush

Joey New York
Chiseled Cheeks Powder Blush
"Kind" - True Coral

This is my first experience with a Joey New York product. The blush comes in a trendy little case, and provides vibrant colors to your cheeks. No complaints here. Blends well, goes on with light application, and still seems natural. I am intrigued by the Joey New York company, and would love to try the collagen boosting lip gloss or any of the skin products. Check her out at: http://www.joeynewyork.com/

Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind

Maybelline New York
Instant Age Rewind Cream Compact Foundation

After all that powder, it was hard to switch to a cream foundation. However, I really liked the Instant Age Rewind Cream Compact Foundation. Not sure about rewinding my age (I've been told I look a lot younger than I am), but I liked the smoothness and creaminess of this foundation. It comes in a slick little compact with a mirror and super soft dual-sided applicator. The white side is for full coverage, and the pink side is for sheer coverage and blurring lines. By using both sides, you get all-day full coverage that never looks or feels caked on. The other added bonus is that it is SPF 18 sunscreen.

Mineral Powder Foundations

Maybelline NY Mineral Power Powder Foundation

Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup

The foundation that appears to be advertised the most these days is some sort of mineral powder. I thought I would try a couple different ones to see if there is a difference between brands. Overall, my favorite out of the 3 is the L'Oreal brand.

Mary Kay's version of mineral powder foundation comes in a short, wide, round container. Doesn't fit well in my travel makeup bag, but I can get over that. It also does not come with an applicator. Apparently you have to have your own, or buy one of theirs separately. The good thing about the wide container is that you are able to get your applicator brush in the powder without it going all over. It also covers well. Unfortunately, the color I tried didn't match my skin color well, but I used it a couple of times on the weekend at home to get a feel for it. If you like Mary Kay products and have some of their product already, I am sure that you will have no problems using their mineral powder foundation.

Maybelline New York's Mineral Power Powder Foundation (that is a mouthful) comes with an applicator and is in a smaller container. I personally thought the brush was a little rough and awkward. The applicator brush is just the top of the brush, but it doesn't fit on/in the container. The makeup itself was light and covered well. It didn't look like I had a ton of foundation on, and still managed to even out my skin tone.

*As a side note, I also tried the Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer. It comes in a lip gloss-like tube with a soft applicator brush. Creamy concealer that covers well and LASTS. Love the fact that it is compact enough to carry in my little wristlet purse.

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup is the one have been using on a regular basis. It comes in a small container with the applicator brush on the cover to the makeup. I realized after trying 3 different mineral powder foundations that it is inevitably going to get all over. I like the idea of the brush as part of the container, but I think it might be a little too big. I have decided to just use a brush I already had. I found that the L'Oreal brand goes on smooth and light, covers well, and lasts all day. The color also matched my skintone well.

Overall, I like the idea of a mineral powder foundation. It blends well into your skin and doesn't look or feel like you have any foundation on at all. Very light, very subtle, and very necessary as part of your makeup collection.

mama mio o mega body oil

With temperatures dropping, my already mad dry skin is all the more so. Thank goodness for this product! For those you who are oily, read no further. For those of you who are combination to dry, read on. It's a pleasant scented body oil that is absorbed quickly to leave plump, hydrated skin. The pump feature is ideal for a nice measured amount of oil. Perfect for all over body after shower slathering. I even use it on my face. I will be very bummed when this runs out because I love it!!

Maybelline Mascara

Maybelline the Colossal Volum' Express Mascara
Classic Black
Nice coverage
Not at all clumpy
Worst time of year for mascara--hay fever=runny eyes!
Some flaking, but it stands up to my constantly watering eyes. Worth the trade-off to me;)
Needs some major remover!
Not a big fan of the Classic Black, it is grayer than I like. Would like to try in a blacker-black.

Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics review from Emily:

-Body wash- Egyptian Basil Mint: love it, it smells great, minty and clean

Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics reviews from Emily:

-Face wash: Not sure it is right for my skin type, doesn't feel as squeaky clean as I'd like.

-Face Scrub: Works pretty well, kind of chunky. I feel like scrubs work better if the scrubbers are smaller. Smells kind of funny, very "natural".

-Toner: Not sure I get the concept of a spray toner. I close my eyes and spray, and don't get my face. If I do, it feels weird. This one smells ok.

-Face Lotion: Smells kind of funny too, but is a good consistency and moisturizes well.

Juice Beauty

Juice Beauty reviews from Emily:
-Cleansing Gel: Love it, feels very clean without over drying.

-Oil-Free Moisturizer: Works well, usually need a little more moisture, ended up buying the green apple spf 15 moisturizer.

-Blemish Clearing Serum: Love it, I believe it has diminished scars and helps prevent new issues. I like to think it's a barrier between me and my make-up

-Green Apple Peel/Sensitive
: Like it, but would like to try the regular (not sensitive).

** Bought a skincare kit from Juice Beauty via Sephora, loved it! Even came with eco-bamboo headband. **

Lotion: Lubriderm

Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair Body Lotion
Smells like baby wipes.
Good consistency.
It feels like my hands are sucking the lotion in & need more, but there is a residue/barrier left on the skin.
Works better on legs.
It's okay, but not great.

Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream

I am loving the Weleda products!

This day cream is a great texture. It's medium thick with a faint pleasant rose scent. It glides onto the skin and hydrates pretty well. I still need to apply other moisturizer but I like to use this as the final one. My skin seems plumper. The packaging is adorable. Love that the box is a nice weight and recyclable. I'll be using this until it's gone.

Jergens Skin Smoothing Cellular Renewal Moisturizer

Maybe I've been spoiled as of late with higher end, rich and thick lovely lotions (thank you, Kate)because this is a thinner not amazing lotion. It smells sort of cheap and although it says it it gives the skin a subtle allure that captivates, I wasn't captivated. It claims to exfoliate and renew but I didn't see either happen. I'll say it's good if you're in a jam but otherwise, no thanks.

Exfoliating Body Wash

Olay Body Wash plus Spa Exfoliating Ribbons

I've never been one for body wash/shower gel. I don't even own a bath pouf. I like washcloths--you use them once & launder.
Warily tried this. It comes out faster than I expected & smells like Tide + Bounce.
Makes a nice lather.
Gently sloughs, leaves skin SMOOTH, not at all dry & ripped up like with some over zealous scrubs.
Left the shower with nice feeling skin, scent had dissolved, even made shaving legs less treacherous.
Kudos to Olay!

Glytone

Glytone's Essential Mini Peel Gel is a light acid peel for home use.
Yes, it can burn--I had to work up to the full time. But it got rid of mild discoloration & my blackheads. I use once every other week so my skin doesn't get all irritated. STAY OUT OF THE SUN AFTERWARDS. They aren't kidding about this.
I used the Glytone Daily Lotion SPF 15 the day after peeling.
It's a nice, lightweight lotion that doesn't make skin mad the day after the peel, but it is NOT strong enough for more than being indoors. Then again, I have gotten a sun burn through a window. I will use this lotion in the evening, when there's enough sun where I worry about exposure, but it's setting & will be dark.

Avene: Anti-bad skin!

Avene

Ysthéal+ lotion

Oddly carrot colored lotion, more of a cream consistency.
No real smell.
My skin LOVES it!!!!!!!!!!
Holy moley.
I usually don't use anything that contains mineral oil, but I gave this a try--clear, smooth skin!
I just put this on at night & voila!
I wonder what else I've been missing out on...

Maybelline Mascara

XXL Curl Power Volume + Length Microfiber Mascara
This is a smart little two-in-one container, one side is a
base coat, the other a top coat + color.
The brushes are nice, there's little-to-no clumps. Good color, good staying power. Not terribly hard to take off with eye makeup remover.
I tried the very black, it is good & black.
The curl part... I have long & thick lashes (lucky me:) ) but they are stick straight. I can't get my hair that straight with product & irons. I've never had a curling mascara that made any discernible difference. This, too, failed to give me the promised 45-degree angle. Don't feel bad, Maybelline, I can't even get a curl with the lash curling wands.

Body balm

Le Couvent Des Minimes
Skin Softening Body Balm: Honey & Shea
First, this smells so good!!!
A light honey scent, so tasty.
Not as thick as a body butter, but thicker than a lotion. Kind of the consistency of pancake batter.
Goes on nice & smooth, makes the skin soft. Even makes a difference on my chapped elbows!
So nice, I am a bit addicted.

Skin Milk Lotion + SPF

Skin Milk Hand Lotion with SPF 15
Quickly absorbed.
Not oddly scented, feels like it is relieving a bit of my perpetual hand chap.
I tend to like a thicker, more cream-like lotion, so this was thin/liquidy for me, but my dad, who likes liquidy hand lotion, seemed quite happy with it--he made off with it to keep in his car.

Skin Milk Cleanser & Lotion

Skin Milk
Foaming Face Wash
A nice, light face wash, not over-drying. Very creamy. Rinses well. Doesn't do any clever tricks, just cleans your face.
Facial Moisturizer
Smooth & creamy. Light, fresh scent that doesn't over-power. Keeps your face from drying out, makes skin feel nice. Not too heavy.
On a hunch, I had my friend's sister (Hi Nicki!) use it after getting sunburned. She said it was great. Makes sense--not menthol-ated like Noxema, but the milk proteins feel great on skin that has been overexposed to harsh conditions.
A great summer night lotion!

Kinerase Ultimate Daily Moisturizer

Must say I wasn't impressed with this at all. To me, it's just another moisturizer that does little for my dry, dry skin. Might be great for someone who has normal skin.

Befine Food Skincare

Befine Food Skincare
Exfoliating Cleanser
With Brown Sugar, Sweet Almonds & Oats

I just used a sample packet of Befine's Exfoliating Skincare. I was instantly hungry when I opened the yummy smelling packet. It smelled of brown sugar and almonds. I was a little worried about how grainy it was, but it didn't feel rough at all on my face. It was as if I was getting a mini facial. Once I rinsed it off, my face felt smooth and soft, and it looked even better! I would definitely recommend this exfoliating cleanser to anyone looking to improve their skin (without feeling as if you just scrubbed your face off).

Maybelline NY Volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper

Maybelline NY
Volume XL Seduction Lip Plumper
Born With it

I didn't even realize until I tried this that it was a "lip plumper." I tried it one morning in the locker room at work. Instantly I felt a minty tingly feeling. My lips looked full and shiny. I was very excited to find out that it was a lip plumper...and it worked. I wouldn't say my lips were huge, but they looked fuller and the color is a shiny, subtle pink. My co-worker walked by and asked what kind of lip gloss I was wearing about 2 minutes after I put it on. It obviously made an impression on her. I am on my way to get a couple of more colors. You should go out and get some too!

Sugar Paint - Mineral Lip Glaze

Sugar Paint
Mineral Lip Glaze
Fruit Punch
These fun little tubs of lip glaze have a lot of color. If you are not a fan of cocoa butter or shea butter, you might want to stay away. The fruit punch color is almost a crayola red on my lips, and it smells a little like fruit punch, but the cocoa & shea butter smell are a little overwhelming. Overall, its not bad, but I think I might like the caramel or milk chocolate flavors a little better than the fruit punch.

Maybelline New York Define-A-Lash Mascara

This is THE mascara. I've been looking for the perfect mascara for as long as I can remember. Much too often, I would put on mascara only to have it either flake off or completely disappear a few hours later-I know, not too common. Define-A-Lash is perfection in a tube. It lengthens mostly but also darkens. It stays on for hours and almost every time I wear it, someone asks me if I'm wearing faux eyelashes. No joke! Run don't walk and get this mascara. Throw all of your other tubes out. STAT.

Maybelline Define-A-Lash
Waterproof Mascara

Nicole: I am in total agreement with Jill. I LOVE this mascara. The brush separates lashes instead of clumping them. The one I tried was not volumizing, but was definitely waterproof. It lasted all day and didn't flake at all. Like she said above. RUN out and get some....now!

Booty Parlor Sex Bombs Kit

Very after dark packaging...full of goodies. I'll start with the Get Flushed Sexy Lip and Cheek Tint. I'm all about this. All about it. I love lip and cheek stains like nobody else. Adorable sphere shape with mirror in the cap. Color is very red Popsicle. A little dab will do ya. Wearing it on both cheeks and lips now, actually. Next up, Don't Stop Solid Perfume With Pheromones. It's very one of Strawberry Shortcake's friend smell. Love it. Heart it. A bit musky which is what I look for in any and all perfumes. Again, in a cute sphere shape-nice and portable. No glass to break. The Dust Up Kissable Body Shimmer leaves a little something on the skin. Great for highlighting the clavicle and cleavage. This would be the best bachelorette party gift.

My Soap!

Pre de Provence Soaps
Agrumes
Wonderful citrus smell, perfect to help de-fog in the morning.
All the PdP soaps I've tried have been long-lasting & lather well.
It's not harsh on the skin & I'm not allergic to it--what more could I ask?

Lip Balm Testing

Lip Balms

Jess' Bee Natural
All Natural Lip Balm
Tangerine

Until now, the only lip balm I have tried that was made from beeswax was Burt's Bees. After testing the tangerine lip balm, I would have to say that Jess' Bee Natural lip balm goes on a lot smoother, and the tangerine scent is too good to be true. Even better, Jess' has only 7 all-natural ingredients in it. Jess' Bee Natural is an amazing company started accidentally by one woman 10 years ago. Everything about her company is all-natural. They hand pour their lip balm and use post-consumer recycled paper for everything. Since trying it, I have kept my tangerine lip balm close to me for repeated use!

Bag Lunch
Red Lollipop Lip Balm

I think there is another blog about the Strawberry Milkshake Lip Balm, but I wanted to compare of all of the ones I have tried. This lip balm is a little more waxy, but the lollipop smell is so yummy! Don't try to lick your lips though, because the coating of lip balm you put on is nice and thick to moisturize your lips. It is so great and fun to have a delicious lip balm that doesn't have cartoon characters or glitter all over the packaging. To me, Bag Lunch Lip Balms are the adult version of Lip Smackers.

emmett cooper SIGNATURE COLLECTION
lipcure

Ok, so this lip balm isn't scented like the other two were, but I love it anyway. First of all, I love the big tube it comes in. It is full of vitamins and aloe vera to heal those cracked, dry lips in the winter. I could tell a difference in just one application. Not only that, it has an spf of 8. emmett cooper uses natural oils and beeswax for a nourishing, almost wet lip balm that makes my lips happy every time I use it.

Bobbi Brown - New Fall Look

Bobbi Brown
Mauve Palette

To quote Bobbi Brown: "...mauve makeup is a cool neutral that's very wearable." She is right! This great palette is all you'll need for the fall. It combines neutral shades for an amazing overall look. The palette includes: Mauve Lip Sheer, Vintage Mauve Lip Color, Dusty Mauve Lip Color, Mauve Blush, Navajo Eye Shadow, Vintage Eye Shadow, and a Chocolate Mauve Eye Shadow. With this color combination, you are destined to look great this fall. Easy to apply, long-lasting, amazing colors. I also have the Mauve Lip Gloss. The lip gloss brush applicator lets you paint color on your lips that lasts. It makes your lips soft and even has a hint of vanilla. I have already started wearing some of this palette and summer isn't even over yet!

Bobbi Brown - Eye Shadows

Bobbi Brown
Metallic Eye Shadow - Bronzed Pink & Penny
Eye Shadow - Rock

Who doesn't love Bobbi Brown? She makes stylish, glamorous makeup that looks good on anyone. Not only that, she gives tips and tricks to make us regular gals look good every day. I have tried and used three of her eye shadows recently. The Metallic Eye Shadows go on smoothly and do not clump in creases. They are shimmery and colorful. Both the Bronzed Pink and Penny are great for all over coverage. The Rock Eye Shadow is an amazing matte color for your lower lid. You could even be daring and line your eyes with this lovely gray color. The great thing about her eye shadows is that you can take them and put them all in on of her pan palettes for easy access and storage.

Kinerase Brightening Anti-Aging System

Kinerase
Brightening Anti-Aging System

Recently, I noticed some dark circles under my eyes. As you may all know, there are a ton of products claiming to remove dark circles and wrinkles. I have been curious about these products, but never sure which one to try first. Luckily, Kinerase sent a Brightening Anti-Aging System to the Brainy Beautys for testing. It is a two-part system. There is a brightening serum and a more concentrated spot treatment. Upon my first trial, I felt a little burning sensation with the use of the concentrated spot treatment. The face serum went on smooth. Not too greasy and it didn't make my face break out. After about 4 days of using both the face serum and the spot treatment, I started noticing some results. Not "miracle" results, but my complexion looked a little more even, and the circles under my eyes were not as dark or puffy. After about 2 weeks of use, I would say that it did help clear up a couple of dark spots on my face and the bags under my eyes did not appear as dark as before. Overall, I think this product delivered what it promised. I would definitely recommend this product to those wanting to try an anti-aging serum, but unsure of which one to go for.

SPF Lotion: Peter Thomas Roth

Peter Thomas Roth
Max Sheer All Day Defense Moisture Lotion - SPF 30
Nice.
Doesn't give me zits or mask-like feel.
No kabuki face.*
Goes on lightly, absorbs quickly. I like that it has SPF 30 w/ Parsol 1789 & is UVA & UVB blocking. Why bother if it's not full-spectrum?

*Kabuki Face--when your sunscreen gives your face a ghastly pallor. You look like you are wearing white kabuki pancake make-up.

Sun Block: Shiseido--Ultimate Sun Protection Cream for Face

Shiseido
Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55 PA+++
Thick, smells fresh, no kabuki-face*!
I'm sold:)
It's not the Best Of Sephora for no reason.
A minimal amount needed for good spread coverage.

LORAC - protecTINT

LORAC
protecTINT oil free tinted moisturizer
SPF 30
Tawny Temptress

My friend, Julie first introduced me to tinted face moisturizers about 4 years ago. I have since tried several different ones. This little sample from LORAC was perfect for a facial trial. The lotion was a little more creamy than the ones I have tried, but that may be because it was in a sample pouch and not a bottle/tube. It felt somewhat greasy, but did not make my face look greasy at all. The color was great. Not too much tint, but just enough to make my skin appear almost sun-kissed. You have to remember 2 things: 1) Make sure you distribute evenly over face and neck. 2) Wash your hands IMMEDIATELY after applying. It can make your hands look orange. The great thing about this is, if you have clear skin, you can use this instead of a foundation!

md skincare - Daily Face Peel

MD Skincare - Dr. Dennis Gross
Alpha Beta
Daily Face Peel
Two Step System

This is the first time I have tried a two-step daily face peel. When I opened the first pouch, I was a little worried due to the strong alcohol smell. I followed the directions and swiped Step 1 over my face from my forehead down to neck in semi-circular strokes. My face felt like it was burning a little, but was definitely tolerable. After waiting 2 minutes, I applied Step 2. The second pad was not as strong smelling, and did not burn as much. After it dried, my skin felt amazing. It was soft and smooth, clean and shiny. To my amazement, it wasn't as dry as I had anticipated. I did use moisturizer, but my face did not break out at all after using this product. I have since looked on the MD Skincare website (www.mdskincare.com/index.cfm) and could not find this product. I may have to write to Dr. Dennis Gross and ask him if it is still available. Oh, by the way, Dr. Dennis Gross is a dermatologist/dermatological surgeon in Manhattan. He developed his products as an alternative to surgery. I am all for avoiding a knife to my face, so keep the products coming!

Laura Geller balance n brighten powder

Laura Geller balance n brighten powder

I'm not the biggest fan of face powders considering I have mad dry skin and go to great lengths to have that oh so dewy look. Yet, it is summer so I tried this. It is definitely similar to most powders I've used in the past. It takes off the shine and absorbs excess oily spots. It's long wearing and the shade matched well with my skin tone. Overall, good for a powder.

Kalo Post Epilating Lotion and Spray

Kalo Post Epilating Lotion and Spray
I was interested in using these products because I absolutely HATE shaving. 40'' legs take no less than about 25 minutes to become smoove. That said, I used both the lotion and the spray for a few weeks. The claim is such that you will see a significant slow in regrowth, about 10%. Big sigh. I saw no slow in regrowth at all. I've tried other products like these and saw no results. Maybe it's just me but for the price tags of $39 and $57, I was thoroughly disappointed.

Korres Wild Rose 24-hour moisturizing and brightening cream

I love this moisturizer. I heart it. My skin is mad dry and hours later it is still hydrated. This is HUGE coming from me. I have been known to put moisturizer on my skin 2-3 times a day. It's smooth and just thick enough. It has the faintest scent of rose. Not old lady rose-pretty pleasant rose.
It's chock-full of good stuff-see below.
Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C, which demonstrates significant repairing activity to fine lines and skin colour disorders. The extract of the desert plant Imperata cylindrica ensures 24-hour moisturising by continually regulating the cellular water equilibrium. Thanks to its anti-oxidant capacity, the combination of Grape seed and phytic acid helps maintain youthful skin.

Mascara: Besame Gingerbread 1930's

Besame
1930s Mascara
Black
Waterproof & smells like gingerbread!
Seriously smells like gingerbread.
Apart from making me want to eat massive amounts of gingerbread when I apply, this mascara works very well.
Darkens, thickens, lengthens, &, most importantly for me, does not flake off & leave mascara goo all over my face!
The case is gold & etched with a beautiful geometric-floral pattern, so it even looks classy in my bag.
I'd let you try mine, but I don't believe in sharing mascara. Or drinks. Or lip-stuff. Or underwear. Go ahead & borrow some shoes, though;)

Lipstick: Besame Cosmetics

Besame Cosmetics
Enchanting Lipstick Sets
Red Collection
First, how freaking cute are these?!?
Each lipstick is about the size of an applicator-less o.b. tampon.
The little box & all the cases are lovely. Very glam.
There are 5 little lipsticks included in the set, all are creamy, have a definite lipstick smell, but not in a bad way:
  • Besame Red--Red. Post WWII France.
  • Red Hot Red--BRIGHT red, almost coral-esque. Said to be Marylin's favorite.
  • Red Velvet--Red, but not stopping traffic.
  • Cherry Red--Lovely deep red.
  • Noir Red--very dark & goth full strength, great if that's what you're going for; for me, I just blotted, used as stain. Very nice.

Cosmedicine: SPF Lotion

Cosmedicine

Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion SPF 20

Maybe it's just me, & I have the worst luck w/Cosmedicine products. Do I get faulty samples, or just happen to test the products that suck?
I was excited to try this, as it promises to stop me from being a greasy mess & stop the sun from making me a wrinkly leather glove.
Squirted some of this into my hand & flashed back to elementary school, when we'd put the Elmer's glue on our palms & let it dry then peel it off. If only this lotion were that satisfying.
Yes, it feels thick & viscous like glue. Your face will know how paper feels, getting paste spread all over. After the initial gluey-face repulsion, I let the lotion sink in for a bit. Had to wash my hands, scrubbing with bar soap. Not a good sign. I then touched my face-rubber! So creepy.
After a few hours, I was still rubbery, but also slightly oily. I felt gross the whole rest of the day, which made me all moody & pissy. So, if you want to be shunned by friends, family, & co-workers & feel like the bottom if a shoe, go for this.

Fiberwig Mascara in Pure Black

I was excited to try this. The claims on the packaging are bold to say the least. "Beyond mascara." "It's paint-on false eyelashes!" I have been known to wear faux eyelashes on a few occasions so I was skeptical that mascara could mimic my falsies. Unfortunately, I was correct. I wasn't really impressed at all. The formula was nice and creamy, easy to apply yet I didn't get that doe eyed look and it definitely didn't seem to outperform any of my other mascaras. Maybe it's just me?

Jergens - Natural Glow

Jergens
Natural Glow & Natural Glow Express

I was excited to test these two products out for several reasons. Who doesn't love the thick, soothing feeling of Jergens? Firming & tanning lotion all in one? It sounded too good to be true. The Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer works to improve skins elasticity and tint your skins color over the course of about a week. The Natural Glow Express gives color to your skin in just 3 days (without firming qualities). I tried both lotions over the course about 2 weeks. The Daily Moisturizer goes on thick with a subtle tanning-bed kind of smell. After 1 week, I may have had a little color, but nothing to write home about. The Express version smelled better and gave me a little more color, but not in 3 days. It was about 5 days before I could tell. As the directions said on both bottles, I waited for several minutes before dressing. Sometimes this is a little inconvenient when trying to get to work in the morning. I did end up with some brownish-orange marks on my camis. I also made the mistake of putting the Express on the tops of my feet. After 2 days, I had slightly orange feet. It went away after a couple of days. Luckily, I remembered to wash my hands after applying. The best part about this lotion is that your skin is smooth with a nice little shimmer to it. I actually like using it when I already am a little tan. My tan looks better and I sparkle.

EO Body Lotion

EO
Body Lotion
Jasmine

EO lotion is an all-natural product made from organic oils and herbs. If you have read my blog about the EO shampoo and conditioner, then you know that EO is earth-friendly and people-conscious. (If you haven't read that blog yet, you should!) The everyday body lotion is very thick (almost like a body butter), with a potent jasmine smell. A little lotion can go a long way. I put it on my shoulders that were peeling from being out in the sun, and was amazed at how it covered and soothed my skin. I personally like the strong jasmine smell. This lotion will be great to use during those harsh winter months when I feel like I have scales instead of skin. Thank you EO for making affordable, environmentally friendly products that work!

Lips: Tarte-- 24/7 lip sheers with SPF 15

Tarte
24/7 lip sheers with SPF 15

I got
Thursday in the Sephora Sun Care pack & fell in love.
It is a very subtle color, just enough to make it look like my lips have a natural tint (as opposed to pale & non-existent). Keeps my lips soft & protected from the sun. It's my new summer staple.
There are the days a girl needs a little added oomph in the lip department. That is why I went out & bought
Friday! Friday's a lovely berry color, you can put on just enough for a stain, or go whole hog & layer it up for a deep, dark look.
The color stays, the soft stays-- I hope that means the SPF stays. Comes in 11 shades- I want to try Monday & Tuesday & Saturday...

Avene Thermal Spring Water

Not sure exactly where to post this, it could also go in the Lotions & Potions blog. It is multi-functional;)

Avene Thermal Spring Water is spray-on water.
It sounds ridiculous, but it feels so good.
It is hot & sticky here, and the Avene sprays cool & clean.
I like to spray before bed, when I'm overheated...
Yes, I know it's just water, but it is fancy French mineral water.
I don't care how big a sucker this makes me, I am all about this little can of water & it's cooling effects!

I am addicted! I wish it came in a gallon size.

Primer + SPF: Alison Raffaele

Alison Raffaele
Primer: Acne Response Formula with spf 15

Not really sure if this qualifies as lotion/potion or make up, although it is technically a pre-foundation... I don't wear foundation, so I'm putting it here!

I was dubious, all this face-primer. Does anyone really have time for yet another step in the morning routine? However, this is worth it!

A couple of squirts of this smooth cream leaves my face feeling soft & protected. It feels like silky velvet, so nice! And it has zit-killers & anti-oxidants! What more does a girl need?

After a couple of weeks, I have noticed improvement in my skin texture & complexion. It's like magic. Thank you Alison!

P.S.: Free of nasty junk & environmentally responsible! Not animal tested:)

Avene oily skin products

AVENE
Cleanance soap-free facial cleanser
Cleanance anti-shine regulating lotion
These 2 products seem to work well enough, but I had to stop using them after a couple of tries, as the scent is VERY powerful. Not a bad smell, smells like the Gap Heaven perfume, but too much for me!
The cleanser is concentrated, so you only need a bit. The container with its twisty-dispensing is really cool, but hard to work with wet hands.

Cleanance acne spot treatment
Nice, not too harsh anti-zit cream with salicylic acid.
Smells so neutral, it's almost a non-scent.
Works well.

Murad Sunblock/Bronzer

Murad

Okay, great color.
No weird smell.
However, the color comes off on EVERYTHING!
It says to wait for the product to dry-- I gave it 7 minutes the 1st try, 15 the next, still have bronzed clothes, car seats, office chairs...
I used just enough to cover, not even full amount recommended for proper SPF coverage.
What gives?

Scrub: Be. Fine Pore Refining Scrub

Be. Fine
Pore Refining Scrub
Very Nice! Pleasant, actually.
Not at all rough, a very refined scrub.
Skin feels clean & healthy after using this, not raw or overly tight.

Mask: Be.Fine--Warming Clay Mask

Be. Fine
Warming Clay Mask
Pros:
  • Goes on nicely
  • Smells good (light, earthy, fruity)
  • Warming sensation not too warm
  • Seems to clear up blackheads on nose & weird chin zits
Cons:
  • Does not rinse off easily
  • Leaves face coated in oil/waxy stuff

I like the during part of this mask, but I wind up washing my face afterward to try & cut through the oil/wax. The water beads up on my face when I am rinsing off. Am I doing this wrong?

Lip Balm: Bag Lunch's Strawberry Milkshake

Strawberry Milkshake Lip Balm
Who isn't always on the lookout for a yummy, moisturizing lip balm? This stuff works and the taste is enough but not overpowering. It's waxy yet just enough to cure a case of the chaps. It's in my work bag and it'll stay there.
And check out the website. It's indie owned and operated with a poster gallery and pics. You can even request custom balms. Sweet.

Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer

Laura Mercier
Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer
Nude

Don't be scared off by the color - this blends perfectly for fair skin that's been slightly sun-kissed - even though it looks dark before application. Goes on easily and smoothly - I squirted a dime-size amount into my hands and rubbed on. How's that for effortless?
A little concealer under the eyes and over any blemishes, and this is the perfect foundation alternative for summer. Lasted through a lazy Sunday afternoon nap, so the staying power is there for sure. If you're oily, might want to dust on some transluscent powder to polish off your look.

IsaDora Perfect Nail Polish

IsaDora Perfect Nail Polish
#130 Porcelain

Don't let the color name fool ya - this is a lovely, somewhat frosty, medium pink - gorgeous for a fresh spring look on toes! It may indeed be the perfect polish - it's goes on smooth - not too thick, not too thin, and you acheive excellent coverage with two coats. It dries fairly quickly for not being a speed-dry polish. And the bottle has a nice, sophisticated look, like all of the other IsaDora products.
Love it!

Boscia Eye Treatment

Boscia Enlivening Amino-AG Eye Treatment

I tried this out yesterday AM under my makeup. It was on the runny side, and took a little longer than I'd like to absorb. I checked my face in the car mirror later in the afternoon, and was horrified to discover that it had settled into my fine lines, dragging my concealer with it. I looked like I had white whiskering under my eyes - horror! As I was off to the dentist, I made do by smudging it away with my fingertip. What a disappointment!

IsaDora Pump 'n Plump Lip Gloss

IsaDora Pump 'n Plump Lip Gloss With Micro Collagen
Sweet Lychee #41

As with many glosses promising fuller pouts, I didn't see any change in my pucker. However, my lips are super glossy and super moist, and the slightly spicy, tutti-fruity scent was a nice, perk-me-up surprise. There is a tingling sensation upon application, which doesn't last long - a bonus in my book.
Sweet Lychee is pale, irridescent lavendar in the tube. On the lips and on its own, this color is practically clear, with just the slightest whisper of color. Micro sparkles are noticeable upon close inspection. I haven't tried it over lip color. I do like the brush applicator - a nice change from the sponge tip of most wands. The bristles are soft and smooth.
Given the choice for a clear lip look, my personal preference would be for a nice lip balm. But, if you are looking for high gloss factor, Pump 'n Plump is a good choice.

Weleda Skin Food for dry and rough skin

Weleda Skin Food for dry and rough skin
OK, this stuff is awesome! It's a thick ointment great for elbows, feet and hands (especially cuticles). The smell is a pleasant aromatherapy green. I put this on my feet after an at home pedi and then slid on socks before bed. My feet were still hydrated in the morning. I highly recommend this for those who wash their hands constantly and/or get really dry in the winter. Gardeners would love this too. It's so so great!

Wash:Be. Fine--Gentle Cleanser

Be. Fine Gentle Cleanser
I am VERY stressed right now.
Couldn't even begin to explain feelings.
However, skin is clear.
This cleanser works!
Very light, minty-smelling, but not like you are washing your face with toothpaste.
Only need a little bit, rinses well.
I like it very much!!!
Added bonuses (bonusi?): Cruelty free, and the Web site is great (www.befine.com)

Weleda Almond Moisture Cream

Weleda Almond Moisture Cream
I am always skeptical about moisturizing products because I have terribly dry and sensitive skin and can't find The One moisturizer that solves these problems. I tried this moisture cream for four days. I like the texture. It's thin and smooths on to my skin easily. The almond smell is very subtle and clean. I like it it a lot and it definitely doesn't irritate my skin which I have to be careful of happening. Alas, I have to layer it over my usual moisturizer and apply it at least twice.

Essie Nail Color

I'm not an avid nail painter. I do my toes come summertime and get the occasional mani when something big is afoot. Afoot, get it? That said, I donned my pups with this two days ago and have yet to see a chip or scratch. I did use both a base coat and top coat but still. They are looking fab. The polish itself is a little thick but I like mine very thin. The color is the palest gray almost a bit lavender. It's one of Essie's new colors for Spring '08.

Catherine's Review:

I have fallen in love with Essie's Secret Affair! It is the perfect everyday color for your fingers! A very pale neutral pink, it gives you a quiet sophistication - you won't be complimented, but you're overall appearance will be elevated by it - you'll look confident, put-together, and polished (no pun intended!).

Kate's Review:

I am wearing Risky Business from the Summer 2008 line on my toes.

It went on easily, not goopy... A nice coral color. It's so very summer!!!

Nicole's Review:

I love the Bermuda Shorts and Short Shorts colors. They are very young, fun, and summery. Not too runny, dries in an adequate amount of time, and stays on your nails!

I also tried the Good To Go topcoat from essie. All of the girls in the bridal party last weekend LOVED it. Went on smooth, not too runny, dried VERY quickly, kept the color in, and didn't chip. I'll never paint my fingernails without it again!

Caudalie Purifying Mask

Caudalie-- Masque Purifiant (Purifying Mask)
One of the rules I have for myself include never trying a product without reading the ingredients. So, I threw that rule out the window tonight, now I'm paying the price.Put on the mask--thinner, creamy consistency. Spreads easily.I wonder if it smells like lavender. Directions say to leave on for 15 minutes.4 minutes later, I am gagging from the smell & frantically washing my face, which is burning.Yeah, did I mention I am allergic to chamomile? This mask is, of course, chock full of chamomile. I can't believe I didn't check the ingredients!!!So, now I have a headache, a sore throat, and an itchy face. I'm hoping I washed it off quickly enough to avoid getting hives. Red, bumpy, itchy rash rarely looks good.On the plus side, it did clear out my pores. If I weren't allergic to it, I'd use it again. Right now, however, I am going to put some ice packs on my face & hope for a good outcome.Moral: ALWAYS read the ingredients!!!

Why Sunscreen Matters-Neutrogena Visibly Even with SPF 15

My current liquid make-up has SPF, but when I dare to go bare-faced (which isn't really accurate because I at least powder up), I use Neutrogena Visibly Even. And here's why:
No offense to these ladies, but I don't want to end up looking like George Hamilton's soulmate, or Billy Idol's grandma! The pic (with my not-so-great cell phone cam), doesn't do the leather-look of their skin justice, but I think their sun-crisped skin tone gives you an idea. Not only that, but Visibly Even goes on smooth and isn't greasy. Plus, I haven't experienced any bad reactions with other products. Give it a try!

MAC Oil Control Lotion

MAC Oil Control Lotion
Goes on light & easily Keeps the shine down Very nice! Interacts badly with my sunscreen, so I wear it after I wash my face after getting home from work, if I go out at night...

Zapping Zits.

Okay, I am a picker. It's cause I can't stand the nasty things on my face & I get such immense satisfaction from popping them. Yes, I know it's very bad. If it makes you feel any better, I only do it when my hands and face are clean, in the privacy of my own bathroom, sometimes with an extractor and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.
In an ideal world, I would never have to take these actions, but if we are going to start with ideals, this blog will explode. So I rely on various products to keep my face from looking like an obstacle course. Here are a few of my current favorites:
Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10-- a staple. Dries the heck out of the spots! Murad Acne Spot Treatment-- smells like dirt, but clears up the zits without over-drying. No flaking skin!
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser For Normal to Oily Skin-- washes off the ick without giving me mask face. Very nice in the winter, with the effectiveness that is not over-zealous.

Shiseido--The Skincare

Shiseido
The Skin Care
I have been using three of the products, a whole night time regime. My skin is more evenly toned, and my monthly breakout has been minimal! The products all have a good, minimal smell. Nothing greasy:) My skin is all glowy & clear right before I go to bed, not as glowy after my morning shower, but I think that has a lot to do with the very little bit of sleep in between those two events. Still looks pretty good considering!
Rinse-Off Cleansing Gel Cleans, for sure, but is super gentle. Non-foaming. I do wish it came in a pump, as opposed to the flip-top, as it is liquid and I am uncoordinated. No post-wash feeling of over-dry-mask-face, my face just felt clean.
Night Moisture Recharge Lotion in a pump, but with a cap so you can travel (not by air though, as it is a generous 75mL, 2.5 fl oz). Goes on smooths on easily & feels light. No gooey face or anything. Just feels nice, no bells or whistles.
Eye Moisture Recharge--Hello unpuffy eyes!!! The lack of puffiness also makes the dark circles look lighter. It's like magic, and all you need is a tiny dab. Does not irritate my eyes, which is great, because with these results I'd seriously consider using it anyway.

Protecting My Face

Neutrogena® Age ShieldSunblock SPF 30/45 with Helioplex is awesome. I use the SPF 45. It is a wide-spectrum block that stops the sun from giving me wrinkles, but it doesn't give me zits! It has anti-oxidants in it, so I don't even have to use a separate lotion. This makes my morning easier & my skin happy. It is so nice, I almost wish my office had a window;)

Intellegent Aesthetics: Balance Kit & Exfoliating Oatmeal Cleanser

Intellegent Aesthetics: Truth Based Skin Care
Balance Kit & Exfoliating Oatmeal Cleanser
I love the packaging, very minimal & straight-forward. Print can be too small, but that's life. Loving the tagline, "the end of false hope." After using the line for a week, I did notice a drastic reduction in the blackhead population of my nose, which is nice. The rest of my face revolted, however, and some not-so-pretty spots appeared around my temples & forehead. My oil production system does NOT like attempts at control & fights. Fights dirty, too. The Exfoliating Oatmeal Cleanser smelled nice. The creamy base is good, but the scrubbing bits were on the huge side. I am all about micro-scrubbers, and these were full-on granules. I know that my skin has a tendency to freak out, but I hurt after this. My face felt raw. Maybe this is really exfoliating? Maybe I have delicate skin? My dad (hey, real men exfoliate) is very happy with this, as he thinks micro-bead scrubbers are girly. He did not use the word "girly," but that it my best translation of the face he made. Refreshing Pore Cleanser- LEMONS! This is a fairly good cleanser. Salicylic Acid, antioxidants, rinses well. Not too harsh. Oil Control Skin Primer-- Yes, I am a product junkie who does not understand toner. Having come of age in the sea-breeze & oxy pad era, I think of toners as harsh & semi-evil. Toners that don't make your fingertips peel, I really don't get. So, you wash your face, then you put stuff on it, & that makes it cleaner? Yeah, I don't buy it. It is, however, grossly satisfying to see dirt on a cotton ball-- much like seeing the biore strip post-peel. This is a little Pledge-y smelling, yellow water. AM/PM Mattifying Complex-- This was cleanly lemony, and does help the clearing process. It has very little to recommend it to those of us who fear wrinkles, except the pomegranate extract. This was a no-harm/no-foul product for me. The line also includes the Intensive Oil Balancing Treatment, but it has chamomile, so I didn't try it (allergic). I don't know why, but this entire line has Ricinus Communis Seed Extract. That's Castor oil. Why? All told, this is a well developed line. I have come to the conclusion that it is meant for younger &/or less mercurial skin than mine. I am going to have my nieces try it, I do not doubt that it will work well for them.

Mary Kay - Subtle Tanning Lotion

Mary Kay
Subtle Tanning Lotion

This self-tanning lotion is meant to give an even, non-streaky subtle color to your skin. If you read the directions, it tells you that maximum color should be reached in about a week. I used this product, according to the directions, for about 10 days straight. It definitely isn't greasy, goes on nicely like a moisturizer, and doesn't discolor your skin. No streaks, no orangy color. The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was the smell. It wasn't bad, it just reminded me of the smell of tanning salons. Apparently it wasn't strong though, because most people said they didn't notice it. I would have to say that I did get a little bit of color over 10 days, but I didn't feel like I was "tan." I think that is why it is labeled a subtle tanning lotion. Just enough to give you a little bit of a color and glow, but not meant for serious self-tanning.

EO - Hand Sanitizing Spray

EO
Hand Sanitizing Spray
Organic Lavender with Echinacea

Fits great in my purse. Easy to use. Bottle doesn't leak or drip. Smells exactly like strong lavender. Sprays out the right amount and doesn't leave your hands sticky. Love it!!

I actually handed some out at dinner the other night. Everyone liked the spray versus the usual hand gel. It doesn't get drip or get too watery like the gel can, comes out easy, and leaves your hands soft and germ-free. I think I like this better than my keychain Purell sanitizer.

Kate:
I have the Peppermint Spray in my car.
Love the SUPER Peppermint, but I find the spray a little awkward in the car.
Taking the cap off, spraying, replacing cap, rubbing hands & being in the car requires more dexterity than I have. It is great for restaurants, though!

Cleanser: Herban Essentials--Towelettes

Herban Essentials
Lemon Towelettes
Real lemon! Not fake scent. Super nice.
Big, thick, cloth-like.
I felt clean after using, which is saying a lot, as I had just deboarded a nasty, germy plane.

Peppermint Towelettes
Holy sting! I never thought it was possible, but there is WAY to much peppermint going on here! IT BURNS!!! It was mostly the strength of the smell, but a couple of minutes after using, my skin hurt. I am almost afraid to try any more, but I did love the lemon...

Juice Beauty Green Apple SPF 20 Antioxidant Body Moisturizer

This thick lotion has all the makings of an essential. It has an SPF of 20, it's organic (if that's up your alley) it says it helps to smooth fine lines & firm, it smells clean and not like apple to me but a nice smell nonetheless. The texture and lemon, almost aromatherapy scent got me right away...loved it. But once I rubbed it in, I wasn't so impressed. It didn't keep me necessarily hydrated or smooth. Or am I just aging rapidly?

Palmer's Foot Magic

I liked this product. It really helped my skin.

Urban Apothecary

Urban Apothecary Kiss & Tell Lipstick

Royal
I love it!!!
Nice red, DEEP & dark (not color on this page).
Goes on smoothly, moisturizing, semi-matte finish.
The color LASTS. I put it on about 7 am, it is 11 am & I am still colorful--2 drinks & breakfast later!
Smells like lipstick, but I can live with that.

Palmer's Lotions

From Eleasha:
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion
I am a fan of Palmer's and this was no disappointment. It leaves my hands feeling soft for hours.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Gloss
I didn't notice much glimmer.

Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer

Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer promises quick, natural looking skin color. It comes in medium & medium/tan formulas. Well, I am pale-fair. Any sort of tan is not so natural on me, so the lotion really had it's work cut out for it. I used this on my shockingly white legs, which had not seen the light of day in about 6 months. I actually have non-white color now!
It works way better when you follow the instructions for self tanning (read May's Allure), and use it after showering/exfoliating. The 1st time I used it, I put it on legs that had lotion on them already, so it did not go on evenly (I have a brown spot near an ankle).
Nice color starts in about an hour, builds well. Not smelly or messy.

Soap: Pacifica Spanish Amber & Mediterranean Fig

Pacifica Soaps
The packaging is lovely. Very Art Deco.
Natural, vegetarian soaps. No animal testing.
Glycerin & vegetable oil bases with oils/fragrances.
Spanish Amber-- Amber with sandalwood. Clean & warm, masculine. The soap itself is strongly scented, but doesn't leave strong scent on skin. The way I would like a man to smell.
Mediterranean Fig-- light & fresh, almost citrusy. The fig base is very nice. It smells good. I would like to try the candle.

Urban Apothecary Luxe Cream Liner

Urban Apothecary
Luxe Cream Liner
Midnight Opal

I am a big fan of cream eyeliner, so I was stoked to test Urban Apothecary's.
Midnight Opal is a dark navy with a very slight shimmer. It's a great alternative to black for more casual looks (sometimes black is just too intense, KWIM?). Easy application, long wearing and once set (give it a minute or two), non-smudge. I noticed a little flaking during application, but it cleaned up easily. My only bit of advice to UA would be to make it a little more moist/creamier to nix the flaking.
I'd love to compare the color with Smashbox's Picasso, which I believe would be a lighter, brighter blue.

Urban Decay Brow Box

Urban Decay
Brow Box
Brown Sugar

This is the coolest little thing! It's a pretty dark grey box with a light purple embellished metallic inset on the lid. Inside, you'll find two shades of brow powder, mini applicator brush and mini tweezer. Pop out the drawer below, and you'll find the brow wax. I love the mini brush - it's just the right size for applying brow powder - the size helps control the amount you are using (and if you read my previous post, you know that brow color can easily get out of control). There's a mirror on the underside of the lid, and the tweezers are good for the strays you missed during your usual pluck session.
I also really liked the colors of Brown Sugar. Having darker brows, the dark brown was perfect, with a light dose of the taupe for highlight (so it doesn't look too fake). The color is long wearing, even without the wax. Definitely a keeper, and a fave!

Lotion: Ciao Bella- Hand & Body Cream

Ciao Bella
Nourishing Hand & Body Cream
Cafe Latte
http://www.ciaobellabody.com/product.asp?PID=62
Scent: At first, I was deterred by the name. I don't like coffee. Not to drink, not to wear. But this grows on you. Cinnamon & other spices. Nice. Subtle.
Lotionosity: So, I made up that word, it's what I want to say. This is a nice, cool cream. It made my hands feel nice. My boss & I got addicted to it. It is now used up, and we are sad!
Luckily, the loverly people at Ciao Bella gave us a 15% off code to share: BELLA15. Now I'm going to order 2-- one for my boss so she doesn't use up mine;)

Palmer's--Olive Butter Cream

Palmer's
Palmer's Olive Butter Formula Concentrated Cream
Tested by Hope!
The great & wonderful Hope is on the older side, and works with her hands.
She tried this hand cream & fell in love!
Even her hard-working husband, Jay, had smooth hands after using this.
It's not heavily scented, very gentle, & has Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
I trust Hope & Jay, so I feel I can recommend this.

Intellegent Aesthetics--Balance line & Scrub

moved to About Face!

Mario Russo Lavender Chamomille Hand Soap (Liquid)

Mario Russo
Olive Oil Chamomile Hand Soap

I love Olive Oil - both to cook with and to moisturize. I also love Lavender - clean and fresh. And Chamomille - warm and cozy. And I believe this product also contains lavendar - clean and fresh, what's not to like? But, the combination of all three is not a scent I love. In fact, it kinda stinks. That said, I do like the other qualities of the Hand Soap - it moisturizes while still letting you know that your hands are nice and clean. The moisture stays with you without being greasy. Good product, needs better scent.

Laura Geller - Baked Marble Eyeshadow

Laura Geller Baked Marble Eyeshadow
Blue Heaven

It truly is heavenly! I have medium brown eyes, dark lashes and brows. Following the ever-changing, oft-debated rule of opposites eye color to eye shadow, I took Blue Heaven out for a test drive today. Since I work in a professional office, I used a light hand. It's a nice wash of color, that doesn't look too blue. The dark graphite base grounds it, so I avoid the dreaded Maybelline Blue look of the 80's. I paired it with a black cardigan and dark jeans with black and blue applique. The eyeshadow rocks out my look quite nicely. This would be great at night, applied with more intensity. The shadow also is pairing well with my Smashbox Cream Eyeliner in Lava.

Mary Kay - Creme Lipstick

Mary Kay
Creme Lipstick
Red/Rouge

I have to admit, I use a bunch of Mary Kay products but have never tried their lipstick line. This little, sleek black tube of lipstick goes on smooth and soft. It has a TON of color. Very creamy, very red and very noticeable. It does leave behind lip marks on your coffee mug, but remains a rich red color throughout the day. The other bonus is that is definitely does not bleed when applied. My suggestion would be to use a sheer lip gloss over it to give it some shine.

Tarte - Natural Cheek Stain

Tarte
Natural Cheek Stain
Full Blossom

At first glance, this tube is a little intimidating. It looks like a crayola crayon push pop. I was afraid that I was either going to have a super dark streak of blush on my face, or not have enough on the sponge to put on my cheeks. That was not the case. The natural cheek stains are easy to use and apply evenly, but not too dark. Full Blossom is a swirly combination of 2 different shades, which makes a nice rosy color on your face. I found it easiest to apply to your fingers and rub into cheeks or apply directly to your face and blend. The best part about it is that every time you purchase this product, you are helping to preserve the Amazon Rainforest. Tarte supports Sambazon's Sustainable Acai Project (SAP), a member of the Organic Trade Association and the Fair Trade Federation.

Palmer's Products

From Jen, moved from http://alldoneup.blogspot.com:
Palmer's Original Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion
Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter
Swivel Stick
Foot Magic
I tried the Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter first--not a good experience. It was very greasy, lasted a VERY short time (I'm talking an hour max) and did not taste good at all. I would've had to keep re-applying if I actually liked it. Definitely not a good product for me.
The Swivel Stick was a little better. It says to use it for marks, blemishes and rough dry skin--or--to moisturize dry, chapped lips. Living in this aweful, cold climate, my lips get dry very easily. This product definitely worked well. I put it on before bed, and woke up with soft lips. Not sure I'd use it all the time, but that's just me.
I've been using the original cocoa butter formula lotion, and so far the results have been good. My skin has stayed soft and hydrated. It's been recommended by one of my doctors to use anything with cocoa butter for the best dry skin results. So far, I agree!
The Foot Magic cream works well, although it's greasy! The directions suggested putting it on before bed, then wearing cotton socks over it. I did that, but then my feet felt like they were sweating. I ended up taking off the socks in the middle of the night, but my feet were definitely smooth in the morning. They have remained smoother than normal over a few days, so I'm thinking the product is actually working.

Tarte-- Double Dose Berry Boost & Gloss

Tarte
Health Couture

Coolest tube!
Very glossy.
Just a bit sticky.
Long lasting color (some color even after I washed my face)
The best part, it is SUPER moisturizing!
I don't feel the need to obsessively re-apply lip balm while I am wearing it.
My lips also appear smooth.
There's a nice mintyness to it.
Plus, there are all these extracts in it which make it good for you, and tarte helps the environment, so wearing it is like doing a good deed!http://www.tartecosmetics.com/tartegives.html

Pomegranate Punch
Pinkier red than I usually go for, but not so much color as to be overpowering. Lighter red, not a deep or dark color.
Acai Boost
Haven't tried the color in daylight yet, just had to tell this: put it on while sitting around before dinner. Completely forgot about it. Ate, drank, watched the Pistons beat the Timber Wolves... Went into the bathroom to get ready for bed-- lips still have color!!! I am a bit amazed. Will test further, want to make sure it wasn't a freak occurrence;)
Go Go Goji & Acerola Rush
I LOVE these sassy little lip glosses. Last weekend I brought my tube of Acerola Rush with me to a wedding shower. I think I have converted all of the VS Beauty Rush wearers to Tarte! As far as the colors go, Acerola Rush is more of a peach color. Go go Goji is a very sheer pink. Both colors are great for every day wear. I agree with everything Kate and Catherine stated above. By the way, did we mention that it has Vitamin C and Shea butter in it?

Catherine:
Acacia Boost
Love it! This is the best gloss I have ever tried! Ditto Kate's remarks on the cool design of the tube - not only does it look chic, but the applicator is a soft sponge tip - way better than those with the brush (e.g. Stila Lip Glaze). A gentle squeeze and you can see just how much gloss you've got. Acacia Boost is the perfect light berry color. And unlike Stila and others, there is actually noticeable color! Also, good moisturizing, way less tacky, and better staying power than other glosses I've tried. I'm definitely ditching my Stilas for more Tartes!
Pomegranate Punch
Obviously, we love the Tarte Double Dose Berry Boost & Gloss line, so this is just a color review.Pomegrante Punch is a light, cherry red. It's not quite the right color for me - a little too red/bold, even though the color is sheer and the coverage is perfect.
Edit: Okay, scratch that. I tried it again today, and I don't know if the sunshine is affecting my outlook, or what, but today Pomegranate Punch was perfection! I was careful not to over do it, and ended up with a nice, light cherry pink. Mwah!
Jill:
Go Go Goji
The packaging is lurvely. It's very expensive looking and luxe. It's a nice weight and a substantial size. The color is a soft pink with flecks of iridescence. It goes on smooth and the minty taste made me feel like my limps were plumping. I'm not sure if they looked all that different but they felt that way. I really like the head of the gloss too. It's a soft fuzzy brush that absorbs the color well so it can be applied smoothly and evenly. Mama like!
